Information in English
Hol and the Hallingdal area are rich in traditions.
The Festival has been organized every summer since 1957. The goal of the day-long festival is to keep old traditions alive. The day begins with a church service in the Old Church in Hol, built in the 13th century, with a bride and groom as guests of honour. The bridal procession, including guests dressed in colourful national costume, fiddlers, horses and carriages, follows the path to Hol Bygdemuseum.
The wedding festivities take place at the museum, with lively folk music, folk dancing, plays and wedding ceremonies performed in the old, traditional ways. The bridal procession through the charming village of Holsbygda, with the bride and groom on horseback, is an unforgettable sight. Emphasis is placed on authenthicity.
Everyone is welcome to join the wedding celebration.
